There was a roller skating event coming up and I really wanted to go! So I asked all my friends and everyone was either busy or not really interested in that particular activity. I thought about it for a while. "Maybe I shouldn't go? I don't want to seem like a creep or a loser." That's what was going through my mind. It's a shame how my internal compass associated solo activities with a sense of failure. Because that's absolutely not true. So, I decided to go! To challenge this notion that I had. And you know what? Nobody cared. I didnt really feel like I was alone. I found the courage to go up to a woman and ask her to get a video of me skating. It was uncomfortable, but I did it. And it was so fun! Obviously, it's easier to do solo activities in a big city where not a lot of people know you. But I hope this encourages you to go do that thing you've been meaning to do, even if no one else is willing to or able to come along. Just a few random thoughts running through my mind as it stumbles along it's way to stillness. I've been loving the early summer mornings. The sun wakes me up to the freshness of a new day, I watch as children walk to school, dogs trot along and runners whizz past me, leaving behind a piece of their motivation for me to borrow. It's been quite healing to have a string of slow mornings and take the days as they come, without much structure or plans. I'm experiencing the end of daylight savings for the first time. I come from such an 'even' timezone where the sun reigns all day long, barely taking on different moods during the summer and the winter. But now, now I must adapt. I've come to a land where the sun is a bit more moody, it appears but seldom, letting the clouds have their fun. I'm in a dull and dreary land, atleast when it comes to the weather. And now I must make a home here. So that's where I will use the lightness of my spirit, the years of strength soaked up from the sun.
